Three Wise Monkeys. The three monkeys have their origin in the writings of Confucius, Taoism, and Japanese Shintoism. In Japanese Shintoism, the the three monkeys are – Mizaru who sees no evil; Kikazaru, who hears no evil; and Iwazaru, who speaks no evil. These monkeys have come to resemble our actions or observation, listening, and speaking.
